Parents Visa

Eligibity Criteria
  • The supporting child of the applicant must be resident/permanent resident/citizen of New

  • Zealand

  • The Supporting child must spend at least 3 years in New Zealand after grant of resident visa

  • The income of Supporting child must have double to median income in any at least 2 years in the past 3 years to support one parent and it must be 3 times the median income if both the parents are supported. The supporting child can even include the income of their partner. But in that case, the median income must be 3 times the median income if one parent is supported and 4 times if both the parents are supported.

  • Applicants must meet character and health requirements.

Family Visit (Temporary Visa)

Parents of any long-term visa holders are normally considered the genuine visitors by Immigration New Zealand. This visa is granted maximum 9 months duration. However, parents of resident/permanent resident/citizens of New Zealand can also apply 3 years multiple entry visa (please see the details under visitor visa).

Resident Visa

Parent category resident visa is for those parents who want to move permanent and stay with their children in New Zealand. The applicant under this category needs apply for Expression of Interest (EOI). Immigration New Zealand periodically make selections among all EOIs and then issue “Invitation to Apply” (ITA). A full application with all the supporting documents is submitted by the applicants who receive ITA.
